I have been using Revit since 2011. For me, this is the best BIM software for almost any project task. The only downside for me is that there is little embedded content, but the built-in tools help me develop the missing components. It's also great that updates come out every year.

If your work is only related to 2D drawings, then you can safely buy Autodesk AutoCAD LT 2014. Yes, this program may not have as wide functionality as AutoCAD, and this is not a new version, but its cost will cover all the shortcomings!
